Lucie and Luke were married outdoors at Wild By Nature, at the foot of the Black Mountains — a day of sunshine, food cooked over fire, and portraits up in the hills as the light went.
Wild By Nature, Herefordshire
Wild By Nature sits at Lower House Farm, tucked into a valley at the foot of the Black Mountains. Open fields, ancient woodland, winding streams, and food grown on the farm and cooked over fire. It is about as far from a hotel function room as a wedding venue gets.
Getting Ready
Lucie got ready in the farmhouse with her bridesmaids, in a House of Savin gown from Lace and Grace. Hair by Holly Mae, makeup by Genevieve Turley.
An Outdoor Ceremony at Wild By Nature
They said their vows outside under the old tree, with the chairs set out on the grass and the Black Mountains behind. The sun held all day, which at the foot of those hills is never a given.

Then back up through everybody, and a long while in the sunshine being hugged by people who clearly adore them.
Cooked Over Fire
The food at Wild By Nature is grown on the farm and cooked over open fire, and you can smell it across the field all afternoon. It is a large part of why people book the place.
Dinner in the Barn
Long tables down the length of the barn, wildflowers, and speeches that ran from funny to tearful and back again.
Sunset in the Hills
As the evening came in we walked up into the hills behind the farm for twenty minutes. The light over the Black Mountains at that hour does most of the work.
Into the Night
Back down to the barn, where the Coverland Wedding Party Band got everybody up and kept them there.
